Need help paying for your telephone bill?
Lifeline/Linkup is a government program that offers qualified people a discount
on their monthly local telephone bill.
How much can I save on my
phone bill?
You will save $13.50 on your basic monthly bill. These benefits apply to your
local telephone service charges that you purchase as a flat rate service.
How do I know if I'm eligible?
You're eligible for Lifeline/Linkup if you participate in any of the following
programs:
Food Stamps
Medicaid
Low Income
Home Energy Assistance Programs
Temporary Assistance to Needy Families program
National School Lunch's Free Program
Federal Public Housing
Are there any restrictions?
Lifeline/Linkup can only be used for the main telephone line in a household.
Lifeline/Linkup customers may purchase all services offered to
non-Lifeline/Linkup customers.
How do I apply?
To apply for Lifeline/Linkup call (606) 287-7101. You will be asked to provide
proof of your eligibility by providing a copy of a document that verifies that
you participate in any of the programs mentioned above. Your Lifeline/Linkup
benefits will take effect when proof of eligibility is received.
How do I continue to receive Lifeline/Linkup
benefits?
Your benefits will be discontinued when you no longer meet eligibility
requirements or when proof of eligibility is not received.
Other Useful information
There are other useful options that can help you save money such as Link-Up.
Lifeline/Link-Up helps households pay the installation charge for telephone
service. This program pays some of the cost of installing local service in your
home.
How much will I save by using Link-Up?
Link-Up will pay 50% of your activation charges up to $30.00.
How do I know if I am eligible?
If you qualify for Lifeline/Linkup, you also qualify for Link-Up.
Does Link-Up have any restrictions?
You must provide proof of eligibility before the service can be activated.
How do I apply for Link-Up?
To apply for Link-Up you will follow the same application process as
Lifeline/Linkup and the same proof of eligibility as Lifeline/Linkup.
Being a Lifeline/Linkup or Link-Up customer does not protect you from being
disconnected if you fail to pay your telephone bill.
